First Trust Bank of Illinois, Kankakee, Illinois, has contacted the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) to report that counterfeit official checks bearing the institution's name are in circulation.

The counterfeit items display the routing number 071000505, which is assigned to Bank of America, N.A., Chicago, Illinois (formerly La Salle Bank, N.A.). First Trust Bank of Illinois issues its official checks through an account at Bank of America, N.A. The items are similar to authentic official checks; however, the counterfeit items display a security statement embedded within the top border.

Authentic official checks display an ornate border on all sides. A vertical security feature statement and a padlock icon are shown along the right side.

Copies of a counterfeit item and an authentic check (VOID) are attached for your review. Be aware that the appearance of counterfeit items can be modified and that additional variations may be presented.
