Planes, Trains, and Automobiles

One of the predictions of banking in the future is "Banks on wheels". The driver will be the teller, and will make regular stops at shopping malls, retirement communities, remote areas, etc.

Why not?

This idea is not completely new. One of West Germany's banks has outfitted 10 mobile trucks to put into service as branches in East Germany.

And tellers up in Alaska have had "Banks in the air" for years, flying into remote areas to open the bank branch for one day a week.

One of the job requirements for these tellers is a pilot's license!

Duties of Alaskan tellers who qualify include sweeping, cleaning windows, wiping down counters, shoveling snow, and then opening accounts, taking loan and mortgage applications, handling customer service, and, of course, settling at the end of the day.

Who said a teller's life was dull?
