Fraud Survey

The American Bankers Association will be sending questionnaires to banks with assets of $1 billion and over to accumulate data on check fraud.

BANKERS' HOTLINE will also be running a survey, asking basically the same questions, but we will be sending our questionnaires to all types of financial institutions, and our targets are institutions under $1 billion.

The aim of both surveys is to try to pinpoint those areas most vulnerable to loss, and those in which the banking industry is taking the most losses through check fraud and from other causes. The risks inherent due to Regulation CC and the availability of funds before collection may have had a bigger impact on the industry than initial figures indicate. This study should reveal some of the problems connected with that regulation.

We will be publishing the results of the survey in the HOTLINE. If you get one of our questionnaires in the mail, please take the time to respond. If you are unable to answer all the questions, respond to those you can. If you would like to have a questionnaire and didn't get one, call us at (215) 874-5522 and we'll get one to you tout de suite!
