Rear-view Mirrors For ATMs

F. Barry Schreiber, Ph.D.

A company by the name of SecureVue out of New York City has developed an all stainless steel security mirror designed exclusively for bank ATMs.

Some jurisdictions currently require rear-view mirrors on ATMs by law. The SecureVue product avoids the breakage problem of glass rear-view mirrors, and the vandalism problem associated with plastic or Lexan mirrors.

The SecureVue stainless steel ATM security mirrors are available in two models and are guaranteed forever against denting or breakage. They are intended for Diebold ATMs or for NCR ATMs, and cost about $60 each.
According to the manufacturer, the mirrors comply with, or exceed, the requirements of New York City and all state, city or county ATM security laws.

SecureVue mirrors are currently in use at hundreds of ATM locations and several hundred New York City subway stations.
