Unusual "Claim To Fame"

The East Carolina Bank in Engelhard, North Carolina, was so remote during the last century that they never did receive President Roosevelt's proclamation to close the bank during the depression until it was too late.

They advertise that they were the only bank in the U.S. that didn't close during the stock market crash of 1929. But they are no longer remote, however, offering all services including Internet banking.
