Tribal Community Forms Native American Bank

Native American National Bank, Denver, Colorado, recently opened its doors for business, culminating a multi-year effort to create a vehicle that uses Indian capital to promote and support tribal economies. The new bank creates a source for tribal communities to pool the capital investments they have been making for the last decade and beyond to create opportunities that will serve the needs of the Native Americans.

The new bank is also in the process of merging with Blackfeet National Bank, a tribally owned bank in Montana. The bank has established a nonprofit subsidiary, Native American Community Development Corporation, to address key community development issues such as financial education, specialized housing and small business financing, and trust land recovery and utilization.
