Saturday Banking Hours New in the Carolinas

In some areas of the country, Saturday banking hours are the norm; but in other areas, banks have been closed on the weekends for many years so the convenience of banking on the weekend is news.

Take North and South Carolina, for example. In the summer of 2002, Bank of America announced that it would be the first bank in North Carolina and the first major bank in South Carolina to open its doors on Saturdays. By the end of the year, the bank had 68 banking centers in both states open on Saturdays.
