Rocket Scientist Robbers

Russell Bloss and Brittany McDermott, both in their 20s, said they needed money to pay a drug debt and buy a cell phone. So they decided to rob a bank in Salt Lake City the day after Christmas. They had written a demand note on a handy piece of paper, which they gave to the teller. The note said they had a gun, and instructed the teller to put the money in a bank bag. They left the bank with $1,300, got into their car (with the license in plain sight) and drove away.

The registration on the license was traced by police. The name matched the name on back of the demand note - which was written on the back of Brittany's personal check.

The pair was picked up shortly after that.
