Changes at the FDIC

FDIC has a new Director of Compliance. Paul Sachtleben has moved on to other managerial responsibilities at FDIC and Carmen Sullivan is FDIC's new Director of Compliance. Ms. Sullivan served a brief term as Ombudsman for the FDIC, helping to establish that new role. Now she turns her hand to compliance - again. And that's good news for the compliance world. This appointment brings back a compliance-seasoned FDIC veteran who should hit the ground running. Ms. Sullivan has extensive experience in compliance issues as well as in safety and soundness. In addition, she has served on inter-agency task forces, including FFIEC groups. In short, she knows the subject and knows the score. We can expect to see increased professionalization of compliance at FDIC, building on Janice Smith's efforts.
