CRA Ratings

The OCC recently posted its third quarter CRA ratings. Of 63 banks examined, 10 earned an Outstanding and 53 earned a Satisfactory. The Outstandings are spread throughout the nation. This is the first set of ratings to include banks examined under the large bank procedures. The good news is that the ratings are favorable, indicating that banks in fact do carry out their community lending obligations. However, when ratings as a whole are high, the community activists allege that there are problems with the examination process. So stand by.
