FTC on Predatory Lending

FTC's Northeast Regional Office hosted a forum on predatory lending. The forum included panelists from FTC and officials of New York State. The forum examined state regulation of predatory lending, FTC's recommendations for strengthening federal laws, and recent litigation. The forum also examined initiatives to increase access by low- and moderate-income borrowers to mainstream financing. Ideas generated at this forum are likely to appear in the form of state and/or federal legislation.
