Tired of Privacy?

You may be tired of privacy, but it is still hot news. The press and others are taking privacy stories to places the G-L-B Act never intended. There is a lot of mis-information circulating about the differences between opt-out and opt-in, and what banks and others can do if the consumer doesn't opt out.

One result of this media privacy hype is confusion. The other result is an opportunity for financial institutions. This is the time to offer information to consumers about steps they can take to protect their privacy, prevent the sale or unauthorized use of information by credit bureaus, and how to prevent identity theft.

Use information posted on the Federal Trade Commission's web site (www.ftc.gov) to send in statements, in response to consumer questions, and make available in your lobbies.
