ADA Resources on the Web

There is more than one place to look on the Web for information about disabilities and how to accommodate them. Several government agencies have sites that are dedicated to ADA.

There are also some related sites which contain information about disability issues but are maintained under other legal requirements. One such example is HUD's new website, www.hud.gov/fhe/fheacss.html. This site contains information about Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. This act prohibits discrimination based on disability in any federally funded program, including housing and development.

The site contains information about the act, compliance, and also provides information to help federal contractors comply with the act. Information includes advice and ideas for developers of affordable housing, housing for the elderly, and also homeless shelters. You should be able to find some useful ideas at this site.
