Section 314(a) Investigations

Even the government has compliance. No matter how burdened you may feel when the Section 314(a) list lands, it should help to realize how much work has been done already by the government investigators. Most government agencies have standards to determine when to initiate and proceed with an investigation. The law enforcement agencies contributing candidates to the Section 314(a) list are no exception. Before the name of an investigative target makes the list, the investigator must meet several tests. The investigator must show, with appropriate documentation, that the case is substantial, the criminal activity is serious, and the case is significant to the agency's mission. So when you see those names on the Section 314(a) list, you can be sure that a great deal of investigative work has already been done.
