Bankruptcy Law Stirs Controversy: Consumer Groups Want Changes - Bankers Do Not

In April, 2005, the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act was signed into law. It became effective in October, 2005. The legislation represented the largest overhaul of the Bankruptcy Code since 1978.
