Effective date for Sec. 302 of Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief, and Consumer Protection Act

Effective date of § 302 of the Act, titled "Protecting Veterans' Credit." This section amends Sec. 603 of the FCRA to "rectify problematic reporting of medical debt included in a consumer report of a veteran due to inappropriate or delayed payment for hospital care, medical services, or extended care services provided in a non-Department of Veterans Affairs facility under the laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs" and calls for the VA to set up a database to allow consumer reporting agencies to verify whether a debt furnished to a consumer reporting agency is a veteran’s medical debt.

Also amends §605A of the FCRA by adding a subsection requiring nationwide credit reporting agencies to provide a free electronic credit monitoriing service for active duty military consumers and members of the National Guard.
