Can anyone point me to where I can find rulings on not accepting non-customer deposits at your ATMs. I have been informed internally that our customers will not be able to make deposits at other banks' ATMs. I am working on this for compliance and communications to our customers if this is the case. Thanks.

i don't know of any rulings, we don't do it at our bank out of liablity reasons. that customer assumes that the atm's bank will get that deposit to your bank in a timely manner... which they may or may not do... nor are they under any contract to accept your deposits and vice versa...

This is a state law issue. It used to be out of the question for a bank to accept deposits anyhere other than at a properly licensed branch.

When we asked MAC (STAR) about not accepting non-customer deposits, they told us that, under the "fair is fair" doctrine, our customers would not be able to make deposits at other banks' ATMs. By the way, we are also a PA bank.
