We are looking into purging signature cards from our manual files and are searching for informaiton about record retention requirements in the state of Kentucky. Everything I've found so far indicates 5 years after the account is closed, but I beleive that to be a BSA requirement, not a Kentucky one. Other information I've run across is pretty vague, stating: " period of time that is consistent with the reasonable business practices for a financial institution.". What are reasonable business practices for retaining signature cards or general Kentucky record retention requirments for that matter? Any helpful references would be appreciated.
