How long did you expect that we would go without a recession? Forever?

So, does that mean that 1990 was in the 80's?

Actually - that is correct. There is no year labeled as '0'. The first year would be 1 A.D. The first decade would be years 1 thru 10; then 11 thru 20....................1981 thru 1990. When we had all of the Millenium hoopla, the year 2000, was actually the last year of the 20th century, not the first year of the 21st - that was 2001.

"Finally"???? I don't know how many times I've had to post this but it's quite a few. We had NEVER gone ten years without a recession before. A recession was inevitable. It's usually the right that wants to "blame" Clinton, like PR tried to.

The fact is that when you have a ten year expansion followed by a mild eight-month recession, you have had the best economic cycle in US history. There is no "blame" for that, for Clinton or for Bush.

Correct, just as there is no blame for the slower economic expansion that followed in the years after 9/11, since our financial center and center of commerce sent us into a tailspin. We recovered, grew each year, and a combo of oil spikes and hosuing market problems have brought us into tougher times. Not a presidential thing.

You would have to ask him about his reasons, but you were the one that immediately posted some misleading statistics about unemployment. I would say that is what you missed.

So you think Ron started this thread to say that neither Clinton nor Bush is to blame for economic downturns?

Well, the recession that began in March of 2001 ended in November of 2001, about two months after 9/11.

misleading?!?!?!?!?!!?!?

my point was that the average unemployment has been comparable!

in fact the range was more in the Clinton years, but my point was that the unemployement rate has not significantly changed in nearly 20 years

so who is being misleading????????

goodnight!

Of course, the ultimate goal of the "rich" is to soak up enough funds to cause enough people on the bottom to lose their jobs, so they can:

Any chance the rise in unemployment just might have something to do with minimum wage increase???
