I'm sure the ladies will appreciate your classy comments!

Quote:
Obama poked fun of McCain and Palin's new "change" mantra.

"You can put lipstick on a pig," he said as the crowd cheered. "It's still a pig."

"You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change. It's still gonna stink."

Wait, isn't Obama the one who was wrapping fish in a piece of paper and calling it change?

So Cal
Even worse, BF. He's wrapping socialism in a shiny house of cards and calling it something we can beLIEve in.

For him to paraphrase Sarah Palin using a pig in place of the pit bull she used, is nasty and derogatory.

Maybe that's one of the reason why there's been a 20% shift in support from white women from Obama/Biden to McCain/Palin.

I wonder if he was speaking from experience?

Ya know, referring to his wife perhaps!

Come on, now. He did nothing of the sort. The phrase "lipstick on a pig" is commonly used. See below:

Book

"As we say in Wyoming, you can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig," - Dick Cheney

VP

Yoss, don't be ridiculous! That's exactly what he did! Perhaps he didn't mean to! But he did!

Yes, it is a commonly used term! However, given the circumstances, one might expect a Harvard educated man, to exercise a little better judgment!

The crowd in the video sure seems to make a connection. I'm not sold that he meant to, but when the crowd reacted like that he should have understood what he was getting into.

This isn’t the first time in a 24-hour period that lipstick has become an issue.

As he was introducing Democratic vice presidential nominee Joe Biden, Missouri Rep. Russ Carnahan said Palin had “zero experience in national government, zero experience in foreign affairs. There’s no way you can dress up that record, even with a lot of "lipstick".”

One might be inclined to cut him some slack, but this is obviously a concerted effort by Obama and his staffers to attack Palin as just another pretty face.........

Right now, that seems to be the only way they can go. She has given them nothing to really attack yet. After her interview with Charles Gibson on Thursday, they may change.

If she continues to shine, personal attacks are going to drive people away. If it was me - I'd let up a bit until there's some real direction to take. But they're not me.

Last night they showed Hillary doing her, No way, no how, no McCain, no Palin. While effective at the convention, it has already gotten old and stale (constant play on mass media wears things out very quickly). And Hillary - she looked HORRIBLE. Eyelids all red, hair a mess. I think Mrs. Clinton needs some rest.

Is that what Dick Cheney did too??? Good Lord, is this what we are going to have to deal with for eight weeks? I've used that expression myself.

Well, good for you!

However, one would expect an educated man to realize that the statement that was written by his speech writers, probably isn't appropriate! Especially given the circumstances!

Let's be honest here! A whole lot of people are going to interpret that statement as Obama calling Sarah Palin a Pig!

Bimmer, you might want to look for the period key on your keyboard, in the lower right-hand corner. You are going to wear out your exclamation point key using it to punctuate every sentence.

While that term may be used frequently in Nebraska, where pigs are raised, I find it hard to believe that a man born in Hawaii, raised in Indonesia, and living in Chicago would use this phrase without some prompting for the visual it will leave people with.

It is a common expression, but either he was stupid and didn't make the connection or he knew what he was doing. I'll give Obama the benefit of the doubt that he was just stupid. If it comes up again, from him or a 527 DEM operative, then he loses that benefit.

You give him a lot more credit than I do Jimmy. His speech writers knew what they were doing, and so did he. He is more and more on the attack, and as he's doing so he is sinking quickly into the mud. Hopefully, it comes back to bite him. The Repub sound bites go on the attack, but their tone is more upbeat. The Dems are sounding tired and desparate to me - and there's still 8 weeks to go.

The debates will be interesting.

Lets hear the women talk then and defend herself for a change, vs creating the "Palin Truth Squad" which I am sorry but makes our party look as silly and desparate.

It's an old saying, and people have got to get past this silly caca and move on to issues and differences, not a bunch of grown adults acting like childish fools.

All she has been doing thus far is repeating snippits of the convention speech that wa sprepared for her.

I am still waiting to finally hear her speak for herself.

I'm surprised she's been out as much as she has. McCain is on his own today. I think she finally got a chance to go home and be with her son who ships out tomorrow. After listening to moms, even BOL ones, lament their sons starting school, I can hardly imagine what she will be feeling tomorrow. For her to do her first interview right after she says good bye to him is unfathomable to me.
