HERE! I'm here!
Our Ops officer recently brought me a situation. I can't find a clear answer for her anywhere. So please help.

We have customers, husband and wife, joint checking, each have their own debit cards.

The wife is attempting to dispute a purchase made with the husbands card. When we find out that the card is his we attempt to contact him, no luck. Do we start an investigation based on the wife? Wouldn't the husband have to file a dispute since it was his card?

It doesn't make sense to me that we would start an investigation, but many things written in regs don't make sense. All I can find is where it says if an account is compromised, and it is her account, but his card.

I found 205.2 (b)(3)(m), is this as good as it gets?

Look in the official staff commentary, section 205.6, comment 6(b)(5)-2. Accept the dispute. Continue trying to contact hubby. He may have bought something without consulting the lady in his life.
