My brain isn't working this morning. I'd appreciate your help.

Our system report that aggregates daily transactions by TIN shows the following transactions for Company X on one business day:

$6,000 cash deposit
$7,000 cash deposit
$10,200 cash withdrawal
$50 check drawn on company X and payable to John Doe (who cashed the check) posted to the account

Do I include that 50 check in the cash out amount and report $10,250 cash out and $13,000 cash in on the CTR?

No to including the check. Cashing that check was not done on behalf of Company X. It was done on behalf of John Doe.

$10,200 cash out
$13,000 cash in

Would the answer change if John Doe was the CEO of Company X, a construction company, and the check was for $9,500? Or is it always on behalf of the payee, absent any specific knowledge to the contrary?

Maytagman, regardless of the amount or who is the payee, you wouldn't include cashing checks in the cash out. Cashing checks are always on behalf of the payee (unless of course you have more information to the contrary - ie: customer states - "I'm cashing this check to put the money into the petty cash fund" then the company benefits from the cashing of the check.)

At least that's my read. John do you have a different opinion?
