Dawnie, I'm having an interesting taste sensation - home made rhubarb wine. It is a delicate pink in color, tart to the taste, with a kick a** alcohol level of 12%. Wow!

Okay, I just found out my 3 year old daughter has to have her tonsils taken out. This is her 5th bout with Strep Throat in less than a year. I am just so sad....I hate to see her have to go through this....

So bartender, I am asking for an early one. Keep it mild because it will be another long night tonight. (Last nights fever 104.9).

Bless your heart (and hers too). I'll sympathize with you and have a double of whatever you're having.

Good luck with that. My son is 16 and still gets strep. He's a carrier and it's always there. They can culture him when he's perfectly well and it will come up positive. Sometimes I wish they had taken his tonsils out when he was young. It won't be pleasant for you for awhile, but in the long run I think she and you will be much better off.

Have as many VUDs as you need.

No one wants their little one to have to go through any pain. I hope she comes through her procedure ok.

If it's any consolation, I had mine out 19 years ago at the age of 24. Before the surgery, I was getting strep infections 5 or 6 times a year. I haven't had a single occurrence of strep since.

Hopefully, that kind of result is what you are obtaining for your daughter.

My daughter had her's out in third grade. They told us days 5 through 8 are the worst. We did not believe them. They were right. Promote ice cream.
Keep the bottle of wine close and rent a few movies.

Mackenzie, good luck. We just hate seeing our kids suffer, but I am sure she'll be just fine. I had mine out when I was about 7. The only thing I remember is that my Mom fed me ice cream, jello and ice water. Haven't had strep since.

We have two employees here whose youngest kids (both age 3) had their tonsils out this morning. Not fun but at least it should take care of the strep problems. Good luck!!!

My Little Bug had her tonsils out the summer she was 5. She'd had ear infections that never really cleared up. She's now 21, and has hardly even had a cold since!

I had my tonsils out in 1st grade, had a bad experience with it and had to stay in the hospital a few extra days. On the up side, I have not been as sick since then. I have problems with allergies, but no strep or anything major.

My daughter was hospitalized last year when she was 15 months old for 3 days due to unexplained seizures. She's fine now but it was really, really hard to watch her go through all the tests, etc. As a mother, you just wish it was happening to you and not your precious baby!!! My best friend had her tonsils out in the 8th grade and as others have said, she is hardly ever sick now. Hang in there. She'll get through it and so will you. And you'll be better off for having gone through with it. Good luck!!

Mackenzie, Don't sweat it. My son had his out last summer. He had surgery at 8:00am and by 6:00pm we were home and he wanted Pizza for dinner!! The hardest part was keeping him inactive for a week. What really helped was the Tylenol and Advil. Alternatate them continuously for the first couple of days whether you think she needs it or not. Good Luck! Believe me it is totally worth it!

By the way, it has been a verrrrry long week! I think I may indulge in a few adult beverages tonight. We all deserve it.

On the bright side, I must admit I don't remember having my tonsils out when I was 7...but I do remember the 5 days of ice cream afterwards Hopefully she'll do the same LOL
