BOL friends I have a request for prayers and positive thoughts for a friend in my Rotary club. She is a young lady 24 weeks pregnant with her first child. Her water broke last night and she is in the hospital. Luckily she is not having contractions and has a very positive attitude. From what I know she has had a very uncomplicated pregnacy up until now.

AS I just posted in another thread, my best friend had twins at 24 weeks without warning. While one didn't make it past the first few days, the other (born 1 lb 4 oz) is alive and really well with no defects or deficiencies at 12 years old now. It sounded from your post that your friend was having a single child birth and has some warning prior to birth, so I have every confidence that her child will be born well and without long term defects. That being said, I'm sending up and prayer for mom, baby, and family that all goes well and that there is nothing incirmountable that comes about from this.

I remember hearing something recently that this day and age - unless mother nature takes over - this doesn't necessarily mean that birth is imminent. In the 'old' days they used to say it could cause a 'dry' birth. I have no idea what that means.

Keep us posted on her progress, please.

I love the name they have picked! And looks like the baby is helping out by providing a block so the fluid leaking is now minimal! Very cool!

From her blog she seems in high spirits and is off the IVs. She is not having contractions. Since her water broke she has minimial ambionic (splg) fluid. This leaves her at risk for infection. I don't know what it does for the baby as far a movement etc. I thought they needed the fluid to swim and turn.

Brynn Lynda Hunsaker was born yesterday, October 27th at 5:15 PM, weighing in at a monstrous 1 lb, 5 oz and measuring 11 inches long. I began contractions early that morning, and although the doctor gave me lots of medication to stave off labor, little Brynn was determined to make her grand entrance immediately.

She goes on to say the baby is doing well for now but they will have to keep a close eye on her for a few months.

Prayers and strength sent Brynn's way. Sounds like she is a fighter!

{{Hugs}} for Brynn, mommy and daddy!! What a little one she is but from what I read she is a fighter also. May God watch over her as she grows in strength and may she go home with mommy and daddy soon.

Praying that God will give strength, courage and hope to Brynn's parents as they wait...that's the hardest part of all. Praise the Lord that Brynn is here and that she is being taken care of in a very good place.
