I don't know if it's the best thread ever, but it's certainly the most unusual. Quote:
I liken it to employees who pass gas often. We speak to them since it is disruptive to the other employees in the office.
Do you have a Gas-Passing Policy, or is this just included in the Code of Conduct?

Ironically, I just returned from a Rotary Club meeting at which the program speaker was a substance-abuse counselor whose topic was "inhalent abuse." She mentioned White-Out as a product often abused as it can provide a little "buzz" when inhaled/ingested. YUM!

Just a side note. Will this thread ever die? It is like the energizer bunny.

Just FYI, eating non-food items such as laundry detergent and white out is a sign of having low iron blood. Maybe a health check is in order. Is the number to your employee assistance program posted on the white out bottle?
Well, it appears that Harvey was correct that there were underlying health issues. The teller's husband just called HR and announced that she passed away last night from colon cancer.

As moderator, I recall seeing this post a while back, and have often thought of it since. However, it is indeed tragic that the teller has passed away. One has to wonder if there is a relationship between her illness and the consumption of white-out.

I think there is a lesson here for us not to be so quick to judge--particularly in the management of people. It looks like there was much more going on here than met the eye. We certainly will pray for her family.

OMG!!! I can't believe she died. In the first post it mentions something about it could be a sign of emotional distress. Maybe she was distressed because she knew she had cancer???
