How will you be training the program to your bank:

To all, or just relevant departments?
One module, or several depending on function?
Are you not training some areas, i.e. HR, Marketing?
Is your training tech heavy, or paper heavy?
Completed by the first, rolling out on the first, a combo?

To all, or just relevant departments?
All - except Courier & IT Dept

One module, or several depending on function?
Several - see next question

Is your training tech heavy, or paper heavy?
Tech Heavy (powerpoint) - I have modified my powerpoints to focus on the Flags that dept. is most likely to see. IE for Lending it is mainly Valid ID & Credit Report Alert / Freeze / Add Discrep.

Completed by the first, rolling out on the first, a combo?
All training completed by the 1st with Program Board Approval in Oct & all in place on the 1st

In another thread I have offered my powerpoint & have shared with about 12 BOL'rs = If you want to see, just send me a PM with your email

Just out of curiosity, why would you not include your IT department?

My logic was that the vast majority of Flags are detected by
1. A real human looking at a Cr Report / Looking at ID
2. Having a cutomer notify them of unauthorized activity ; I gave out my info ; I am not getting my statements / etc.
Both not something IT would see.
Our BSA / AML Software does come into play on unusual activity, but that is worked by our Fraud Dept.
The only flag on our Relevant list that could apply to IT is if a customer says hey I can't get onto my internet (turns out someone has taken over and changed their password) = that would be detected by our bookkeeping / cust svc personnel who handle customer connectivity problems.
SO = given that they deal with keeping our network running & secure & don't have customer contact = I excluded them.

That is why I am leaning towards not including IT, HR, Marketing, and basically only telling Accounting about the funny little symbols they may see on occassion.

Branch staff, customer service, loan orginations and servicing will get the training.

What about if your emails were "spoofed" or your website was taken over?

We're a small operation so everyone was trained. We're all cross-trained to some degree and never know where we might be sent if we're short of staff. (Talk about built in contingency planning! :D)

I would think that while the red flags in the first two categories dealing with consumer reports and suspicious documents might not involve IT, many of the ones in the next two categories, suspicious information and suspicious activity, would be very difficult to detect manually.

We trained everyone (another small institution). HR needs the information because of the credit reports they pull on employees. Marketing was trained because of the website and some of the calls that get to them by mistake.

We did a brief overview of the program for all staff so everyone had a basic understanding that we had a program in place and what it was all about. Then we broke in to separate sessions for more in-depth training for those staff that needed it - frontline, loans, etc.

Program was Board approved mid-October, training completed last week and program was effective when they walked out of the training classes.
