I've just inherited the negative balance function at my institution and I know nothing about compliance in this area. Is there any specific regulations that I should be aware of?

Thanks,

I guess I'm not sure of what the "negative balance function" entails. Do you mean you are approving overdrafts?

The negative balance desk is the function that tries to collect on deposit accounts that are overdrawn due to returned items, etc.
