thomasj I will definitely visit your daughter's site!
My husband and I used to work very closely with the Salvation Army when we lived in CT. We were the founding members of a group that, in conjunction with the Salvation Army, ran a canteen truck that responded to calls from the fire department and police force. We provided the firefighters, police and EMS with water, gatorade, snacks and sometimes whole meals (depending on the length of time we were needed at the scene) to keep them hydrated and energized. We started off in a late '60's model bread truck, but graduated to a brand new truck that we helped design a couple of years later. It was one of the most rewarding things I've ever done and working with the Salvation Army was a great experience.
Few people know that in a disaster, the Red Cross' duty is to the victims and the Salvation Army takes on the responsibility of the rescuers (fire department, EMS, etc.)
They are a very worthy cause!
