So I went online to move my money around on my bank accounts, and low and behold, my money was not there!!! I flipped--I got my paystub, btu no pay? I couldn't get through to payroll. In asking aroudn about who did and didn't get paid today, it seemed only those of us who bank at WaMu did not get our money. So I called WaMu--always a pain since there is no option to talk to a representative (I had to report my card lost or stolen to get a live person)--and it turns out that WaMu had a problem with all of today's recurring direct deposit payments. They are already workign on it and hope to have it figured out within the next couple hours.

LAME ASSES!!!!!

I bank at WaMu and my pay check was direct deposited to my account last week. So no problem here. Hopefully you will get your money soon.

Still no paycheck in my account, and WamU has yet to put up an alert on their website regarding the issue. NOT good customer service if you ask me.

Golly, give them a chance to investigate and resolve the problem! You don't want them to rush through and fix it incorrectly, do you? It's a very short time since you first posted! Trust me, we IT people fervently wish every problem was quickly identified and quickly and painlessly solved, but it's not always possible. Calm and cool patience is called for in these matters. Good luck, I hope they resolve it today for you, and I do understand your frustration, but I trust that WaMu is a reputable company and will make good on whatever problems exist. smile

LOLoad. Nope, I don't work at WaMu, and my bank hasn't had an issue as serious as the one Dip mentions, but I feel for their IT people right now, as they work hard under tremendous pressure to get it fixed! laugh

I think a notice on their website is appropriate--yeah, mistakes happen, but put out a notice that you know and are working on the mistake. The workers who would put a notice on the website are not the same workers who would be fixing the direct deposit issue, so why hasn't it been done. When you are holding on to people's money, the least you can do is keep them informed...

If I were you I would just write some checks now, float. I'm sure the money will be there soon.

(as if it wasn't obvious, that was sarcasm)

The problem with doing this is it creates more of a headache for those dealing with the customers. What you would hope to be an informative online notice turns NASTY when you have people that can't comprehend a simple sentence. Instead of just dealing with those that are looking for a deposit, you get people that freak out thinking the bank has fallen apart or something. Instead of allowing people to investigate and possibly get deposits memo posted for the interim, you have all available personel on the phone trying to assure customers that bank has not, in fact, exploded destroying all account holders $$$. grin

Dip,

Don't you have a local community type bank near you? Bank with them. Most of them have real customer service, real people answering the phone, real solutions to your problems, etc.

Just choose carefully.

Banking with the big boys always leads to misery.

I finally got a hold of our payroll--confirmed they sent out the funds and that there is nothing they can do since the money is already at WaMu. So even if this goes into the weekend, payroll cannot help out with a payday loan. Word from my friends at Wamu who did some looking into this for me is that something they did with the merger stuff probably caused this and they are trying to fix it.

Still no paycheck in my account...or my coworkers' wamu accounts. We're sweating a little worrying about whether this will be fixed today or not. I mean, fo me, this is a $1600 worry!!! cry

You could use the philosphy of some people. If you have a check or a debit card, you have money even if the balance on the account says $0. crazy

Maybe you shouldn't live paycheck to paycheck.

That really shouldn't be a concern. The answer would simply be that this happened in September! smile
