The regulation states under recordkeeping that you must have a description of any document you use including any identification number contained in the document. Our list of acceptable "secondary" documents includes credit cards. Knowing customers won't want us to store their credit card number, would a partial number be allowed (the last 4 numbers)? Maybe we should delete credit cards from the list.

Deleting the use of credit cards as a secondary document sounds like your best course of action.
