When is this conference coming to the East Coast? Soon? Never? I work for a small institution and while BSA is very important...they are not willing to send me to a conference across country. I've been requesting to attend this conference for the past 3 years now and have gotten the same response every year. "We'll wait until there is something around here."
I can only speak for myself, but I'm sure the East Coast people would like to see it our way too. Respectfully yours,

You know, most of the time, it's us west coasters that have similar complaints! Not only is our TV shifted off by 3 hours to accomodate EST (we get the results of important information like the American Idol winner time delayed), our conferences are diagonally across the country in Florida! Having BOL AML on the west coast is get even time for us west coasters.
Signed, former South Eastern person, and glad to be a westerner now!

I would check air fares to Vegas. Vegas is one of the cheapest and easiest cities to get to. Depending on where a conference is held on the East coast, it may be cheaper to fly to Vegas then to an East coast city. My flight is only $79 through Allegiant Air.

I got a great rate also. It was much less than a flight I am taking from AL to NC in a few weeks. Go figure!!

I am all for Vegas, believe me, but the American Bankers and American Bar Association put on a great one each year in DC in mid-October. I've gone the past two years and gotten a ton out of it.

I attended the one in DC this past year - thought it was great. Plus I grew up just outside of DC, so I got to go visit some friends.

I am in TX and east or west is irrelevant for me. HOWEVER, I have tried and tried each year I have attended to convince them to go east for variety. If there were more requests here, maybe they would. They have asked the audience each year for suggestions but again, you're getting the midwest and west audiences saying, "Hey. It's great!!" They even talked once about doing 2 each year. One in the east and one in the west. Let them hear from you easterners!

Or how about we just go midwest, and be in the middle for all?

Yeah... I was thinking more like Chitown or St. Louis, Kansas City even.

One thing to keep in mind about the location is the time of year the conference is held. Weather in February can be an issue in some parts of the country. Of course, there's always Orlando. I love every opportunity to visit with Mickey.

True.

However, is BOL married to February? How about February for Vegas and August for East Coast?

I live a lot further away than David, so my RT air fare is a whopping $149. If BOL is convinced that more people would attend a different venue they will move it. It would be a personal favor to me if you would keep those cards and letters coming...

Trust me, I would love to go to Vegas! I'm all up for the traveling, but where our institution is literally located on the boarder of Maine it's not that easy to persuade upper management that Vegas is my only option...or even DC. I'm just trying to voice my opinion to BOL for others in my dilemma and that may be in the area. Thanks everyone for adding your input on this! Everyone has their own opinions/suggestions on the matter...and that's just what they are "opinions" or "suggestions". With that said...

BOSTON would be a great place to have a conference... :o)

Bean Town! I've never been there.

BOL welcomes opinions and suggestions from its users on options for conference locations, times...whatever! (With the noted exception of anyone suggesting Central City, Nebraska. Sorry, David.) As Ken suggested...don't be shy, keep them coming.

I vote for the east coast also. I attend the FBA BSA school each year, but would love to try something different.

I think it would be ideal if it could be "mixed up" a bit - I know logistically this can be tough for the organizers, but everytime it's time for Top Gun, I hope that it will be on the East Coast or at least a little closer (I'm in Florida) - but Vegas has been it! I can understand the frustration of the West-Coasters, because it does seem that a lot of conferences are East Coast, but maybe Top Gun could switch it up a bit, one year East, the next West (or somewhere in between!). We are very forunate to have such a good FBA BSA school in Florida, but it would be great to be a Top Gun!

Being a former 25 yr Floridian and now living in Alaska, please do not move it to Florida. If you move it to Florida, we will need at least 3 days to recover from the travel. The west coast trips are long enough (but it's well worth the long haul), flying to ORL would take about 13-15 hrs with layovers.

I really enjoyed San Fran last year (hint, hint). How about Texas or Chicago? It's fairly inexpensive to fly in/out of there, several options for airports, plus it's "half-way" for most ppl.
Just some ideas. Looking forward to seeing the BOL team again this year in Vegas!! It will be a good break from our weather too. smile

East Coast ... alternate if you have to.
I think my management just does not see the Vegas location as being a serious conference!
And I am longing to attend a Top Gun conference!
