What is your favorite cheap beer? (If you don't drink cheap beer, what was your favorite cheap beer in college?)

What is your favorite import beer?

What is your favorite domestic beer?

This sounds like a good post to end my day with, and can;t wait to see all the answers tomorrow. The cheap beer I used to drink in high school was Strohs or Old Style. Not a big import beer drinker, but I guess I would pick Heineken. Domestic Beer used to be Coors Light in college, but I am a Bud Light drinker. As you can tell, I am not a sophisticated beer drinker!

Cheap - Barq's Root

Domestic - A&W Root

Import - Blenheim Root (I say import, because outside of SC, you'd have to import it)

Cheap college beer(ale)since funds were tight-we used to buy cases of long neck bottles of Robin Hood cream ale-if you got it real cold it was OK, if not----ugghhhhh.

Import-old college roommate was a bartender who worked in a bar that specialized in German beers-we tried so many it wasn't funny. Most you wouldn't recognize the name, nor can I remember most. At first was hard to get used to drinking at room temperature, but that is how many are served, not ice cold. Boy did most of them pack a punch, the alcohol content is much higher than our watered down beers.

Favorite today-=Little King Cream Ale-ponies.

If we are serious drinking---shots of Wild Turkey with a Bud chaser.

Little King Cream Ales--used to drink that in my college days. Other kids thought it was special and would trade two twelve ounce beers for one of those little 7 (or 8) ouncers.

Favorite cheap beer-You will think I am crazy, but Schlitz is not bad.

Favorite domestic beer--Sierra Nevada or Sam Adams.

Favorite import beer--Warsteiner or Budweiser (the Czech version, not the American version, of course)

In high school, the cheap beer was either Busch or Naragansett. In college, Rolling Rock was the cheap beer, not it's just as expensive as others. Don't like imports but nowadays, I'm a Coors Light gal! I could actually go for one right now. Excuse me while I leave for a moment to go grab one from the mini cooler in my office. I'm kidding! Unfortunately!!

Favoirte import beer - free!

2nd Favorite cheap beer - cold!
2nd Favorite domestic beer - cold!
2nd Favorite import beer - cold!

If it is free, I can always make it cold!

Here's the recipe:

15 minutes in a large cooler filled with a combination of 1/3 ice, 1/3 water, and 1/3 free beer.

I was always told to appreciate alcohol (namely beer), and in this order:
1. free
2. cold
3. cheap

I'll go along with that

But as long as it's cold, I don't care to shell out a buck or two.

My Local Clubs:

Am. Legion - $1.25 (long necks) (Imports $1.75 to $2.25, but better think twice about ordering an import here)
Elks - $1.50 (cans) ($2.00 to $2.50 imports)
Eagles - $1.50 (cans) (imports - don't know, never ordered one)

So tell me Dan, does that make the Eagles & the Elks "hi-falutin"?

Like several posters above, the beer of my youth was Little Kings Cream Ale. I grew up in Cincinnati, where Little Kings used to be produced, and I went to high school with a scion of the family that owned the brewery. It was pretty cheap, too, so I guess that makes it my favorite cheap beer.

Favorite domestic - Christian Moerlein. Moerlein wsa the first beer brewed in America in accordance with the Rheinheitsbebot, the German purity law.

Sadly, both these brands were sold off by Cincinati's last local brewery. The firm that bought them is having serious money problems. Right now, I don't think either is available.

My favorite import currently is Bass.

I'll go right along with the cold part! I drink mine on ice so it can't get warm before it's finished. As for the survey......

Free won everytime...... As it still sorta does

I own the bar, so it always seems free. But it has to be Miller Lite. The first beer here that would advertise the number of carbs and still the best one for flavor!

About the only beer I drink at all any more is Harp, draft only. And on the holiest day of the year (March 17), Half & Half or Black & Tan. I won't drink Guiness straight in this country, although in its country of origin, it is really good. And full of vitamins!

Wow, Little Kings! That was the first beer I ever really had! I'd forgotten all about that stuff.

Cheap - Old Milwaukee
Domestic - Rolling Rock ( Look here for info on 33! )
Import - Corona

Corona? Makes me smile every time I see someone drinking that. It was cheap Mexican beer that someone got the idea to market as a great import. It's still cheap Mexican beer, it just isn't inexpensive anymore.

They did the same thing with a beer in Texas called Shiner. They called it Shiner Blonde, jacked up the price and sold oodles more than they had in all the years it was just called Shiner.

For a Summer Beer, I like Pete's Wicked Strawberry Blonde. Just the slightest hint of strawberry flavor. Mmmmmmmm!!!

I am not a beer drinker, but I've been around many. There's a local place called Rich O's here in New Albany that only serves imports. They won't serve a Miller or a Bud, etc. My brother's favorite is Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout.

Domestic -still working on it. I like IPA's and porters. Lots of good ones out there.
Import: Old Peculiar
Has anyone found Big Rock Traditional Ale in the US? I tried this on my honeymoon 15 years ago in Alberta and have been looking for it ever since.
