Just sayin' what I remember being called. wink And besides, I like to think I don't fall in with the "gimmegimmegimme" kids.

Let's hear it for my brothers.. both "solid" Gen X'ers.. one lives in my folks' basement, the other will soon be living in my folks' basement with his wife in tow.

We're the same age (exactly, if I recall correctly) and I've always been told I'm Gen X. I'm not sure whether to take that as an insult or not, but I suppose it's better than "Y". eek

My b/d is in '76. My wife is a few years younger. Anytime we diagree about something, I attribute it to "generation gap" - one of those buttons I just love to push...

From answers.com

Generation X: The generation following the post–World War II baby boom, especially people born in the United States and Canada from the early 1960s to the late 1970s.

Generation Y: The generation following Generation X, especially people born in the United States and Canada from the early 1980s to the late 1990s.

Generation Z: Generation Z is the generation of people living in Western or First World cultures that follows Generation Y. According to Phil Ruthven of IBISWorld, who provides market research analysis, Generation Z,(typically the offspring of Generation X) are currently in grade school or younger. While Generation Z, or as Strauss and Howe defined them the New Silent Generation, has yet to be defined however the generation begins sometime after 2000.

I had a very funny (to me)conversation with my older son (31) who told me he had to go to a lecture for his job on how to work with Gen Y employees. He rattled on about how difficult one of his office mates is and how he totally fit what they were talking about. The traits they were discussing, he realized, where the same traits that irratate him about his younger brother (25). He was telling me how he had to work for everything he has and Gen Y just expects it to be handed to them. They have no work ethic blah blah blah. It was so funny because that is exactly what the baby boomers complained about Gen X, and what the silent generation complained about the baby boomers!

Such a bizarre spin to put on this news story. It's just my opinion, but I don't think JJ's interpretation jibes with the actual events.

As much as this article did amuse me, I have to admit that my brother and his wife (both 26) defy the definition, mostly.

My SIL is an EMT, my brother a firefighter and first responder... they have a two year old with one on the way, and have a home with a 15 year mortgage.

Still act a little immature at times, but overall, pretty good productive kids.
