Our family is growing! We have become new parents to baby desert tortoises! As of last night the count was three hatchlings. Three more were working on it, so we will see how many are out tonight.

I know not everyone thinks they are the best of pets, but we love them.

I have a tortoise too! Mine is a 5-7 year old Russian Tortoise (I don't really know how old it is). Her name is cobaka, which is russian for "dog". She's a great pet, and actually acts like a dog, but without all the mess. (she runs to the side of the cage when I walk in the room, eats out of my hand, etc)
Not only a great pet, but one that will live for a VERY long time.

I have a 20 year old Russian Tortoise myself. A friend took him out of her pit bull's mouth. He is very cute, very cranky, and can eat his weight in dandelions.
I had a desert tortoise that I found walking down the center of a two lane highway, however she was stolen 2 months ago. I miss her tooling around the pasture and worry about her living conditions now.
