Does anyone know when (date) the CTR threshold of $10,000.01 was established?

The Currency Transaction Report (CTR) came into existence with the passage of the Currency and Foreign Transactions Reporting Act, better known as the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), in 1970.

I was told at a Professional Bank Services seminar that the amount would equate to $53,000 today if adjusted for inflation.

In 1970, $10,000 would buy a lot of things, in fact when I graduated college in 1980, I thought 'if I could just make $10,000 I would be on easy street'. My how times have changed!
If the examiner's didn't appear to like the $10,000.01 so much, I would love to see the number raised.
