This is just being touted as the most lavish party since he took office, Jokerman. Give him time. So far, each one is bigger and better(?) than the last.

At the same time, he's bracing for 'bailout backlash'. Wonder if he's planning on using the empty beer kegs to brace with?

I can see Hillary doing some of the same, but not to the same degree. I think McCain would have been the most responsible of the three.

Apparently it is a tradition in the white house...

"THE ANNUAL shamrock ceremony at the White House has become such a familiar fixture in the political calendar that it’s easy to overlook the extraordinary and unlikely nature of today’s events in Washington."

annual
adj. occurring once a year

That this event occurs every year, not just this year. Kind of like the annual pardoning of a turkey before Thanksgiving.

Maybe he's never heard of us. Do you suppose that we'd get invited if he knew that we existed?

Pulling people out of the ditc...
I hope he sobers up in time to make it to his Tonight Show gig with Leno...that sure seems like a gross misuse of AF1 to fly to LA and back just to be on the show. Wonder if he's ever heard of video conferencing...

Is that once per calendar year?

Please define year? 12 rolling months? What if it's a leap year?

Sounds like a whole lot of deus ex machina to me. smirk

Some say he's addicted to the adulation and needs the crowds.

I for one am dismayed that government money is being used for entertainment purposes that have little or nothing to do with government and add nothing to the tax coffers.

This is what congress would say to a bank CEO if they spent money on this right now.

I have to agree with that.

What's good for the goose...........

Since we are in such bad economic shape, we ALL need to cut back - government included. If this is an annual event - fine, but it can be austier and then explained to all of us that, yes, we are continuing the tradition, but in a way so as not to incur elaborate expense.

Wherever the plane lands
But, BO just said last week that the economy is not as bad as everybody thought! In fact, he just said "The economy is fundamentally sound"

Even though he ripped McCain apart for saying the same thing while they were campaigning!

That was before the election and his stimulus plan that he said needed to be passed immediately to prevent an irreversible recession. Now that the stimulus has passed, the economy is fundamentally sound, except when it comes to the budget, which must be passed immediately to deal with the issues. Can't kick that can down the curb. But the economy is fundamentally sound, except for the big mess he inherited.

It all depends on that day's talking point.

hhhhmmmm??? confused Now where do I remember reading this before? Oh yea. It was HERE!!! And barely a week ago to boot. If the little people like us are talking about it, do you think he's hearing any of it? This is beyond nuts. I'm loosing faith in his potential really fast. You can't yell at AIG one minute and turn around and put on your black tie to party yourself the next.

The nation, or at least those who voted for Barack O'bama that are not of the far left and consume vast quantities of koolAide, has been swindled.
