Caterpillar to lay off 2,454 workers in 3 states

By DANIEL LOVERING

PITTSBURGH (AP) -- Caterpillar Inc. on Tuesday announced plans to lay off more than 2,400 employees at five plants in Illinois, Indiana and Georgia as the heavy equipment maker continues to cut costs amid the global economic downturn.

But BO said that they would rehire employees if the Porkulus bill was passed!

The caterpillar President actually said back in February that Obama had taken great liberties with his conversation, and that even if the stimulus package was passed he would be laying off more employees ( i think he said about 2,200) before he rehired any. Seems like he is following his business plan...

Since I have 2 people close to me that have lost jobs because of it, sure, it's important to me.

Why would it not be important?

You're right! It's not an important issue. But I can just imagine the comments you would be making if it was Bush that did this!

Here is what Reuters said about this:

".. it was the Irish leader who ended up surprised by his own speech which started with: "We begin by welcoming today a strong friend of the United States."

Turns out Cowen was reading Obama’s speech off the teleprompter. "Why don’t these things work for me?" he asked as the crowd laughed. "Who said these things were idiot proof?"

At the end, Obama stepped up to the microphone to add to the levity: "First, I’d like to say thank you to President Obama," Obama said."

Thanks Yoss! I knew I could count on you to throw in the Liberal Media's Spin!

Because it's just not possible that BO did something to make himself look like the idiot that he is!

They will say that more layoffs would have taken place without the stimulus. Remember, the job figures were jobs created or SAVED.

And they excoriate corporations for fudging the numbers...can you imagine if the federal government's executives were judged by the same standards to which the federal government holds corporate executives?

Way, way south.
Congresses' retirement and benefits programs should be eliminated and they would have to have regular 401K's, Social Security, and a regular benefits plan (Blue Cross / Blue Shield), ASAP.

Add in term limits, and you have a revolution in US governing.
