Can anyone tell me what the difference is between an HSA transfer and rollover? Thanks in advance!!

It's pretty much the same concept as IRA transfers / rollovers. If the assets are coming from another HSA and the check is payable to the bank, it's a transfer. If the assets are coming from an HSA and the check was paid to the HSA owner, it's a rollover. If funds are coming from another type of plan (MSA or FSA or IRA), it's a rollover

yes, the debit is a distribution, but when crediting to the "new" HSA, it's a rollover contribution
