We have never had this happen and we do not know how to handle this. I was asked this question as a last resort as it is far outside my area of responsibility.
We have a commercial customer who is traveling to Canada and they need a check payable in Canadian funds, like a check on their account or a cashier's check/money order. How do other banks handle this? Can they issue a check on their account and indicate "Canadian Funds" in the amount? Would the Canadian bank accept it and encode it as such? I am totally stumped. We have all seen Canadian checks payable in US Funds, but I have never had a customer request this before.
