Anyone skipping the June conf this year? I'm on the fence about going although I've gone the past 4 years. I'm not seeing enough topics for me to go....or is it just me?

FINALLY ABOVE the gnat line
We're not allowed to travel to conferences this year - on-line training is allowed - doesn't have the travel expense.

I wasn't going because of a family event on the same weekend, but now I am, just will miss the first day.

Not going - cut from budget this year. (I hope only for this year.)

Me too! In fact, there are no dollars in the budget for training this year, so to keep my certification (CRCM) I have to shell the money out of my own pocket!! I hope the ABA realizes this and offers a few free or low cost seminars this year with CRCM credits. I am hoping I can find enough back issues of the magazine to do the online credits that way too.

We're sending fewer folks this year. I'm letting someone else attend in my place because I had 20 carryover CRCM credits going into this year. I only need 34 more by EOY 2011, so I should be in good shape. We're a strong, profitable bank and still we're watching our expenses.

SkiDoo, you hit on the easiest way to pick up CRCM credits - - the online ABA Bank Compliance Magazine quizzes. They go back to mid-2006. If you can get your hands on the old issues you can pick up a dozen free CRCM credits in a jiffy.

Some of the regulators are offering free telephone seminars on compliance related topics this year. This might be an option to check into.

You can also write test questions for the CRCM exam for credit and I think you can write magazine articles for the ABA Compliance Magazine and get credit. There are a number of things that you are probably doing now that would count (internal training for your staff--double credit for teaching).

You also get credit for the inhouse training you conduct - double the amount of the class - for example for a 30 min class you get 1 hour of credit if you teach. Our FDIC regional office is holding quarterly teleconferences - that's another way we can get educational credits. If you are a member of a compliance peer group with periodic meeting and have a speaker that will also count as training.
