By the way - excellent thread. I've been looking to expand my musical horizons lately and I find myself going backward to listen to older music rather than getting into newer bands...Keep 'em coming!

Good call on Beastie Boys: Paul's Boutique. That's a great record. I remember when I bought it in college, I was expecting "License to Ill 2" (Another greeat album, btw), and hated it. I didn't listen to it again for like 3 years, then gave it another try. After that, I thought it was one of the best albums I ever heard!

so do these have to be on vinyl? There are two albums I remember having as a child. Michael Jackson's Thriller and Olivia Newton John...I don't recall which one exactly but it was a fold out picture and I know my dad really liked it. Really? Was it the pink and white Olivia Newton-John album? I think it was a greatest hits thing... Those were my first two records!

Since rainman broke the rules by mentioning a DVD I will throw in Stevie Ray Vaughan - Live at the El Mocambo.

The best were the Gabriel years. Although I do like And Then There Were Three, Duke, and Genesis. But an album that includes Supper's Ready has to top my list. (time to bring the I-Pod in and listen to about 5 early Genesis albums)
