Gee, I thought it snowed up there almost the entire year. I gotta admit I was surprised that you were surprised by the snow.

I am only surprised because today is the last day of summer! I hope Dawnie's weather isn't indicative of what's to come in the Northeast.

Thanks, Gomer! If we had snow here in Georgia - that would be a surprise! Especially this time of year! Instead we have hot, humid weather - you know the kind, where you stick to everything when you walk outside? You have winter already, where oh where is fall?

Dawnie, we had snow in our mountains last Tuesday but just rain down here. Woke up to 33 degrees this morning, frost covering the lawn. Looks like it might be a short fall and a long winter - we need the moisture so I'm not complaining.

My air conditioner only came on a couple of times yesterday.

I love fall - but I hate fall allergies. Everyone thinks I'm crying all the time - even with the prescription eye drops!

The allergies are the worst. I am popping benedryl like it was pez. I tried to go the weekend without and I was miserable. But I have an interview today so I'm already took one. I don't want to sneeze and snifle during that.

I also don't like picking up the leaves because I have a small yard with 7 100+ year old trees that covers the entire yard. They are usually about 3 inches deep and that is befor I rake them into a pile or 50. I used 70 30 gallon bags last year and that was mulched.

Otherwise fall is great.

Suprise It really was early for us. The last time it snowed this early was in 1947 (I don't remember it...heck my mother was a child still).

It's going from 20 to 50 now during the day, so I expect we'll have a real winter like ya'll did last year. I have my good book, bottle of wine and the fireplace ready for the first snow that sticks...Now if I could just get the examiners to leave me alone I could practice my first snow day a few times

Well it didn't snow here yesterday but it also didn't get up to 50 degrees either. It's been very cold and it's definitely too soon for winter. I have to agree with ya Dawnie...we are in for a long and cold winter.

Officially fall here in the Chicago area. 44 degrees on the thermometer by the office at 6:45a.m. Would not mind seeing some of that snow over here. Could use the moisture.
Happy change of seasons!!!

Dawnie, What the H*** are you doing up there in the cold anyway? Get out of there, get out, get out! Have you watched the birds migrating south to warmer climes? Millions of years of evolution can't be wrong. If Man (and Woman) were meant to live in such cold climates, God would have given us polar fleece skin.

Even I leave Wisconsin after Christmas!

Dawnie - define 'warm weather'. It's probably different for you than some of the rest of us.

Hey Dawnie, We are in the process of getting a new furnace installed, along with a new hot water heater, air conditioner and wood burning stove. (We heat with wood when we are home all day, otherwise LP gas).

Well, so far, I have pulled Spunky, my cat, out of the stove pipe and the duct work. The little stinker was running thru the house duct work! When he came out, he was covered with spider webs, so I guess he did help with the cleaning.

LOL Skittles, Below 80 and above 45. Is that enough of a range? I don't like my "warm" to get too warm. (Though I'm back to considering Houston again darn it)

Nanwa, I always wondered if the kitties would get lost in those pipes and end up in the furnace...glad to know they come out eventually. My little guys love to remove the duct covers. I have to duct (heh heh) tape them down to the floor. I still can't find a nice tan duct tape that matches the granit (sp?) in the kitchen though, so it has white. It's quite unattractive

Yes, I am very lucky that Spunky comes when he is called. If it had been Kismet, he would cry until I climbed in the duct myself to rescue him!

The universal "come hither" call won't work at your house? (Can opener on a can of moist kittie food) Always works for me!

Ihave the pickiest cats around! Kismet will only eat dry Science Diet. Spunky will eat the same or ground venison. Treats and wet food get the "bury" treatment. They sniff, then act like they are burying their poop, scraping along side the bowl.

Dawnie, do you duct tape the ducts to the floor, or the kitties?
