Grapevine baskets sound interesting - we have about 8 grapes in the orchard and I've run out of uses for the vines when hubby prunes them. Are they easy to do? Might make a nice winter project.

Americans are not collectors, they are just plain horders!
I want that Clean Sweep crew to come to my house and sort out all our carp for us. We've been in the house since September and still have boxes stacked in random corners! The sad part is that I regularly clean out/give away/throw out anything I run across that we don't actively use. My mother is a horder - I drive her nuts.

Pooh, I'd typed short instructions on how to make a grapevine basket, but our Internet went down about the time I submitted. If you're interested in directions, PM me and I'll send you something. They're really easy to make. I've had the first one I made for about 20 years.

What interesting ones do you have Bugs? I have boxes and boxes up in our attic. Oh, I have quite a few. My favorites are a bee sitting on a flower. The bee is the salt and the pepper is the flower,a donkey carrying a pack with one side of the pack being the pepper and the other the salt, two styleized baby chicks (shaped like eggs) each sitting in the bottom half of a broken egg shell, two little hot water bottles, a little wooden ship with one smoke stack as the salt and other pepper, and the list goes on. I started collecting them to give myself something to do after I got bored looking at stuff in antique stores. My wife usually wants to look at almost everything, but I don't. I have a few basic rules to make it more interesting to me(I sometimes break them): (1) They have to be old, (2) they have to be odd or unusual,(3) they have to cost under $10, (4) and I can make only one purchase from a shop.

I started when I got tired of following my husband around flea markets while he looked for old tools/farm equipment. I have a mother and baby kangaroo; lots of Disney/WB that the boys bought; several 50/60's era provocative one (i.e. reclining nude - one prominent part being salt, the other pepper); axe wedged into a tree stump. There are just so many different ones. I have only spent more than $10 on a limited few - namely several American Indian sets (one a boy and girl in a canoe), a set of Mammy & Butler.
