MIL received $250, another couple I know received $500, all direct deposited and listed as IRS Stimulus. Funny, I hvaen't seen mine. Anyone else get one?

From what my MIL told me, those drawing SS are getting stimulated. Both she and my FIL received $250.

FWIW, here's what I sent around to employees to inform them of the stimulus payments...

"Hello everyone,

As you aware, the recent passage of the economic recovery act has resulted in slightly larger paychecks for most Americans. This is made possible under the "Making Work Pay" tax credit program. The short, short version goes like this: If you work at a job to earn your income (vs. "non-earned" income like retirement, disability, investments, etc.), you are entitled to a $400 tax credit. If you are married, your household will get a $800 credit. This credit, rather than coming to you as a lump sum, is divided over several paychecks. This is why your paycheck likely got a little bit bigger recently.

For people who do NOT have earned income due to retirement or disability, the government is giving them a one-time Economic Recovery Payment (ERP) of $250 instead of $400. This $250 IS a lump sum payment that will begin in May, and will process under an "ERP" ACH code. This payment is NOT coming from the IRS, but from the government agency currently making their monthly payment - the Social Security Administration or Veterans Administration. In tax circles, it is informally called the "Senior Stimulus", since it will mostly go to older folks.

Pretty simple, right? Uh, no. As with all things involving taxes, it gets complicated from here. This article does a pretty good job describing the devilish details. Basically, there are circumstances when TOO MUCH money is given to the tax payer. If that happens, it will have to be reconciled on the 2009 return....with the result being either a smaller-than-normal refund, or a tax bill.

If you are concerned that this may happen to you, the IRS has a not-so-handy calculator to help you determine appropriate withholding amounts. It isn't an easy calculator, but it is the only tool available at the moment. IRS Calculator

I really enjoy my $8 that way I can pay my extra state and county, MTA, and sales tax. Somehow the math does not work.

Nah, but they'd be a real close trading partner and ally. I am thinking a nice plot of land, an island in the Caribbean. Start fresh and new, learn from some of the mistakes of what was once a great nation called the United States.
