Chavez does not have much of a future. Mark my words, he will be gone (politically) within 5 years.

Straw- the only coups in the 70s that stick out to me are the Chilean, Uruguayan, Ecuadorian, and Bolivian coups which were right wing overthrows of democratically elected (but leftist) governments. The coups and hard-left leaders being elected in central and south america today are in some ways a reaction to coups like those.

Fair enough, but this wasn't really the point of our discussion anyway. Given you feel that Chavez is going to be a transient figure, I can understand your attitude toward Honduras. Since I beleive he is likely the next Castro, I hope you can understand my attitude towards Honduras.

I do understand, and I guess time will tell. The only reason why I don't think he can be the next Castro is because he won't have the international support (*cough*USSR*cough) that Castro did. He has some support, but not nearly the amount of backing for strategic purposes that Castro did in the 60's.

My how the Democratic party has changed:
Kennedy in 1961. We will support any friend, oppose any foe, in order to assure the survival and the success of liberty.
Obama 2009: With his stance regarding “Not meddling” in Iran and Hondorus he is taking the following stance:
“We will support any foe, oppose any friend, in order to assure the survival and success of tyranny.”
