Anyone watching? I caught the last 10 - 15 minutes last night. Was that the first show of the new series?

Looks like next week is the one to watch. One of the chefs wants a throw down with Gordon - not in the kitchen - outside. Then it looked like there will be a fire and someone is injured. Hope I remember to watch! laugh

From the early moments of the show, we discovered that there are going to be MANY injuries this season.

I'm not excited by any of the chefs so far.

funny, walked in from a bike ride to see Ms.Gilmore watching this...it appears to be a show where some fat guy screams at other fat people, they all wear funny looking clothes, and rumor has it food is involved but I didn't stick around long enough to see anyone doing any cooking...seems like a terrible waste of an hour of your life...

I thought it was a really good season opener.

Don't they tend to have pretty healthy food cooked on that show? I know there a few times when they make something that you shouldn't eat but pretty much everything is baked or seared and there is always a lot of veggies.

I have to admit, I love this show and my hubby and I watch every season. Last night we watched the episodes that we recorded...should be a good season.

That guy that challenges Ramsey is a world class jerk. He was a ticking time bomb...apparently asking that moron a question is what set him off. LOL

As usual, I fell asleep during part of the show. Were the two guys with injuries able to work after they came back from the hospital?

Who got sent home?

All I remember is nobody got sent home because of the psycho that kicked out last week. Since two people left last week, there was no official elimination.

Although the girls lost and Lovely and Tennielle (sp?) [the same two girls as the prior week] were nominated to bottom two again.

Both teams completed the dinner service, but the men had an 83% approval rating from the diners vs. a 81% for the ladies.

The injured guys were able to work, but the guy with the wrist injury was a waiter during the service. I can't remember his name, but the guy with the ankle injury really lead and rallied his team, I think he's a real contender.

No one else was sent home because the moron got kicked out in the beginning of the episode. Seriously, who is going to hire that hot head now?

The whole "school yard brawl" was as expected, blown up. When the kid approached Ramsey and went at it with him, 2 men (producers, or perhaps body guards) stepped in. Some verbal back and forth and Mr. Hothead was kicked out.

Marines are respectful. This guy was an ass. Although as my wife pointed out, who knows if Ramsey egged the guy on and it was edited out.

Yes, many marines are respectful. However, there are stereotypes that marines are very hot headed and think they are invincible. Imo, this guy proved that stereotype.

Every Marine i've ever met was intense but respectful.

This guy reminded me more of Pvt. Pyle in Full Metal Jacket (after he loses it) more than he reminded me of an actual Marine.

Don't know what to think about Robert. I missed part of the show last night. Did he go up in one of the planes?

I see that the EMTs are called in next week, and Robert's taken to the hospital. Wonder if this will be another hyped up preview with the show a lot less exciting. Don't want anything to happen to Robert, but . . .

Something about Robert is bothering me this season as well. Although, I definitely am pulling for the guys team over the girls this season.

I can hardly stand anyone on the women's team, especially Tenielle (sp?) and Suzanne.

He was dressed for the flight-not sure if he did or not-

He did well in the challenge, but it seems like he freaks out next week and heads to the hospital... I don't think he can handle the stress level.

Guys lost the challenge-each team had to come up with an app, entree and desert totalling 700 or less calories. As a punishment, they had to prep both kitchens which included them getting on a 6 person bike and heading to the market for some supplies. Robert, being in such good shape, got back and was feeling dizzy, etc so once again he was shipped off to the ER.

During service, each side was awful-Tenille, AKA Whoopi, went at it with chef...

Can someone explain to me why they made Robert get on that bike and pedal up a hill, knowing full well he has heart disease like that? Does that seem smart to you? I mean I know he probably has a choice, but would the show really want that liabiltiy? Seemed pretty stupid to me...

My wife thought that was out of line as well, but I guess they are all in it together. I assume the "punishments" are decided ahead of time. I don't think it would be fair to exclude him due to his health/weight. He should have thought about that before coming back. He had been there before.

Exactly Sox.

I'm actually surprised they make exceptions for him not being at service. I say if you're not there, then goodbye! They made too many exceptions for him last season and now things are carrying over into this season. It's not fair to the other chefs who are there every service!

Agreed Sox, it drives me crazy when he gets mad and starts complaining about almost dying last year. If it's bad for your health you need to quit. Don't stay, and when things don't go your way, pull the health card.

I think it would be an intersteing experience to be on a reality show of some sort but imagine they get wicked bored. Aren't they cut off from society completely? No tv, radio, or newspaper? All they can do is sit around and talk to each other. I get the structure...it makes the environment more volitile because they're forced to discuss things. Which makes it more enjoyable for me when confrontations arise.

Anyone watch last night? I saw something very interesting and am wondering if anyone else saw it (I confirmed through the magic of TIVO). I saw Tek in the background when Gordon was yelling at one of the ladies towards the end of service. What was she doing there after being kicked out a few weeks earlier? Do the ones that are booted stay to help? I know on these shows the contestants that get booted have to stay until the show is over, but I thought this was interesting.

Challenge-the blindfolded taste test. Women win-they go out to eat with Ramsey to a restaurant where you eat in total darkness. Men have to prep the sorbet to be served at dinner-unload the fruit from the truck, and Danny had to sort the berries-a huge pile of 3 different berries.

Service was typical-both sides messing up-men finish-women mess up terribly at the end. Sabrina undercooked lamb and Ramsey made her take it out to the dining room and eat it. Tenille puts up Sabrina and Suzanne (who had messed up and really ticked them off). Ramsey tells Amanda to join the 3 and ends up booting her.

MsGilmore was watching this when I got home from riding last night, so I sat and watched about 10 minutes of it...Ramsey is an egotistical, pompous ass, (yes chef, no chef, you the man chef)...back in my college days, I worked in 2 5-star restaurants in NO that the chefs were Paul Prudhomme and Emeril Lagasse, neither was half the tool this guy is...I couldn't take it after 10 minutes and left the room...amazing what people will subject themselves to for 15 minutes of fame

Dave is good but Kevin is good as well. I don't see anyone but Ariel making it on the girls team.
Man, I wanted Suzanne gone so bad. I can't believe he kept her. I know she's a pretty good chef but man she bugs me.

Did anyone else notice that when they were eating in the dark, everyone had their eyes open except Suzanne? She was sitting there in the dark, talking and eating with her eyes closed. And the point is.....?

She's an idiot. She also appears to be a mouth breather, and that annoys me all on its own.

I could see that (no pun intended)... if she was trying to use her other senses, closing your eyes even in the dark could allow you to focus in on your other senses better.

Yeah that dude is on the brink of meltdown for 45 minutes of the show.

Anyone ever watch his other shows on the BBC? He's much more laid back, but he still uses profanity with every other word.

What is it with the blue team and their injuries? I don't think the females have to be concerned about any of the males surviving to the end. They keep taking themselves out. They are their own worst enemies.

I know what you mean. I was glad to see Suzanne and Andy go. I thought it was a good choice.

Ah, are you kidding me? I must have missed that. I was fast forwarding through the very end so I would have enough time to watch Sons of Anarchy. Dang it. I can't stand her!!

Yeah, Gordon was like, "Suzanne, take off your jacket."

::long pause::

"And go over to the Blue team."

I was like, WHAT!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?

Looks like Dave really hurts himself next week, hopefully he will be able to continue, since he's been the overall best cook since the beginning and deserves to win it all.

In the preview he is twisting his body to try and pick up a pan at an awkward angle with his bad hand and it looks like something snapped , or he gets burnt, in/on his arm. They then show him running to the back to see the medics and he has a voiceover that he may not be able to continue.

I am glad Dave won. I didn't dislike Kevin and thought he could have just as easily won, but Dave showed a ton of intestinal fortitude working that hard and doing so well with a broken wrist. I am glad they didn't have to do the "design your restaurant" bit... that is lame.

I was glad Dave one. I agree with Sox, I didn't dislike Kevin but Dave had much more heart and could cook as well.

I liked that Dave kept his focus on the food and working hard instead of playing the politics/sabotage/strategy/excuses game the rest of them got sucked into. And seeing him 'channel' Chef Ramsey during the final was friggin' hilarious.
