I was just informed that there is new requirements relating to information that must be disclosed on a bank statement. Nothing passed my desk on this topic. Did I miss something?

Probably the Jan 1 requirement for MTD and YTD overdraft and return check fees.

We announced the Regulation DD amendment in our January 29, 2009, Compliance Briefing. Here is a link to the Fed's Federal Register publication of the final rule.

I'm offering a webinar that will go into those and other regulatory issues relating to overdraft fees on September 22.

My assumption is that this is only on "Consumer" deposit accounts, not commercial. Do you see any harm in providing the info on commercial as well? (other than maybe opening a can of worms in the process!)

No. Other than the proverbial can of worms, I see no harm.

Candidly, although businesses aren't protected by Reg DD and several other consumer protection rules, the presumption that all business people are more sophisticated than the average consumer is probably false. What is true in most cases is that a business can raise its prices to absorb the costs of overdraft fees; a consumer doesn't have that ability. In fact, the consumer ultimately pays for the business's overdraft fees in those raised prices.
