I need some help in how to handle a search warrant on a safe deposit box. We expect to receive one shortly and have never had this happen before. My understanding is that the box number is specified on the warrant. We will have our security officer present to execute the search warrant and drill the box. The police will make an inventory of the contents and issue a receipt for anything that they take. We will have an inventory of anything left in the box. But, what do we do with the box afterwards? If the police take all the contents, then I can notify the customer with a copy of the warrant and inventory and close the box. If contents are left, I have a drilled box with new keys. How do I handle that?
