We are currently looking to revamp our dress code at the bank. Right now officer wear ties during the winter months and polos during the summer months. All other employees wear either bank polos or nice casual dress. We are looking for some uniformity and wanted to purchase different color polo bank shirts that the employees could wear for each day of the week. I was just wanting to get a feel for what everyones banks dress code currently is and if they have any suggestions to help with this uniformity?

We had a meeting on this today. Currently we have 5 long sleeve poplin shirts and 5 short sleeved polo shirts - all logoed. We have a calendar that says what color to wear each day.
We are now going to 10 shirts: All logoed polo, short sleeved and long sleeve employees choice. We have given them a list of colors to choose and they may have a whatever they want (shirt type). Employees may choose the color they want to wear also - no more calendar and looking alike. The bank pays for them 100%.
We are excited about the change. On the shirts the short sleeve and long sleeve are poplin and very nice looking. We may wear slacks or skirts - no jeans of any type.

Thats eactly what we were thinking about doing. We were also experimenting with a 0% $500 employee line of credit that the employee could use to purchase other logo clothing and it owuld be repaid by taking 20-25 bucks out of that employees pay check.

Don't think our President will let the employees pick whatever color they want to wear for each day, he kinda wants them all to look a like, but i hope to eventually get there.

For years we had the specific color "uniform" each day, then went to any colored logo shirt, and are now back on specific color logo shirts each day except Fridays, which employees can wear any color logo shirt. I personally prefered we we could chose what color to wear. Now we have one day a week we all appear to be in morning....

Just an FYI: I would be careful of the colors you purchase. Make sure they aren't seasonal or fad colors. When we've ordered the "hot" color of the season in the past, we've have had a hard time getting that color and style later on down the road. (for new employees)

We implemented uniforms about two years ago. We get them from Lands End (shirts only) and provide 5 shirts or 3 shirts/1 sweater at no charge to each employee. We let them choose from black, burgundy, blue, taupe, white. Most employees were fine with the change, but we did have some that were adamately opposed. Over time, this seems to have died down. Overall, it has worked for us and we get mostly positive comments from customers. It sure is nice not to have to worry about what to wear or to buy work clothes. Oh, slacks/dockers/skirts, are ok. No cords, jeans, tennis shoes, etc.

We had discussed uniforms but don't want to go there yet. We are just gonna keep the colors basic...blue, green, burgandy nothing too wild.

years ago I worked for a bank in Texas that provided uniforms (but not shirts/blouses). We were given slacks, skirts, vests and jackets in orange or tan and may have had brown also. We wore whatever top we wanted.

AAAAhhhh yes, the days of uniforms. It was 1985 when I began working for a bank in Texas that provided uniforms. All skirts, no pants allowed at all for the women. We had 3 suits, that rotated with 2 blouses to match each suit. It was nice not to have to worry about spending money for clothes to wear to work.

We are business casual everyday, if you wear a bank logoed shirt. We have to purchase our own shirts but there is no restriction on colors or style.

On the road...
My bank still provides all FT with career apparel (uniforms) - 4 jackets and 3 bottoms (pants or skirts). We wear then for 2 1/2 years! Right now it is up for debate whether or not to continue. Big budget issue. Employees are torn - some hate it... some love it.... whistle
