I just recently became the internal auditor for a credit union (I was at a bank previously as auditor). They keep referring to me as the internal control auditor - isn't internal control auditor and internal auditor the same thing?

No. We used to be called ICD "Internal Control Department" and now we are called "IAD" "Internal Audit Department". The scope of the audit is different.
